From a humble beginning in 2006 with only 20 members, the Guitar Ensemble has grown both in character and strength. This year we managed to recruit a total of 26 secondary 1 members, making a total of 46 members in the ensemble. As a relatively new CCA, the ensemble too experienced its fair share of teething problems especially in the initial stages. However, with the support, commitment and dedication shown by its pioneer members, the ensemble managed to overcome these challenges.
We took part in SYF 2007, 2009 and was awarded Bronze and Silver respectively. The students practiced very hard to ensure a great performance for the competition. Practices were intensified to 3 times a week in preparation for this major project. The members have shown resilience in improving their guitar playing skills, and was rewarded in this event.
The ensemble is currently under the guidance and instruction of Mr Alvyn Eng.

Hihi guitarists! :) well, first off, today was quite an okay practice. We had sectionals like 3/4 of the time and we performed Tanya's Tango for the new sec 1s. Anyways, i hope your sectionals went well :)
DONT FORGET TO GET YOUR TUNERS AND FILL UP YOUR SYF PROGRESS CHART BY THIS FRIDAY~
they're gonna be checking on these.
Btw, i am gonna host an INFORMAL PRACTICE. Its this thursday, from 2.15pm to before 5 if possible and meet at PERFORMANCE THEATER. This is to let us master up pirates and maybe start on Una Noche as soon as possible. I am NOT making this compulsory as i find it no use.
If you want to come, come. If you dont want to, then dont. At the end of the day, you're at the losing end, not me. So i dont really mind.
If you come, all the better as you benefit and familiarise yourself more with the score. If you dont then you're losing out. But thats fine with me, as i said.
I understand that some of you Have tutorials on thursday, please come after tutorials if you want to. We're gonna practice at the performance theater as guzheng isnt using it. this is an INFORMAL practice, so its only us and no Mr Eng.
We're gonna do some sectionals also and i know that my conducting is kinda fail and you all have to repeat the thing like everytime i make a mistake. So i apologize.
You all should know that this is going to pay off soon. No more slacking, hard core practice. Saturday practice will only commence after CNY.
You guitarist should know what mr eng said today, so im not going to repeat anymore.
I may be abit 'angry' as some of you mentioned but just to let you guys know, im still that friendly Joanne Laughallthetime Giam (as said on my facebook, hahaha) :D its just that when its practice, we practice. I cant be fooling around everytime right. Theres a right time for that. Hahaha. So thats about it.
