MAY. Assembly Programme Performance! (24 May 2011)
Friday, February 25, 2011
Hihi! :) Here are the latest updates about the practices! We changed all our guitar strings today, first 3 strings all black and last 3 are all silver. AWESOME RIGHT. :D Dont worry if it sounds out of tune at times, cos new strings tend to get out of tune VERY VERY OFTEN. So please get your tuners ready and ready to tune away when there's a need! About today's practice, wasn't here on the first half due to tutorials so i dont know exactly what went on. But from what i've heard, we played Una Noche, Pirates And Tanya's Tango. Mr Eng also taught us how to change our strings so we did that for about an hour or so.. Full ensemble today was...quite okay. I felt that we can do better and movement C was a major screw up at first, but it got better :) Tanya's Tango, as usual, the beginning isnt that impactful enough. So please work on that, Section Leaders, please practice Movement C Of pirates with your section to get them familiarized with the song and beat :) Uhh, we're gonna be tested TOMORROW. You are to remember Tanya's Tango & Pirates Movement A as the teachers will be testing you. So please memorize your scores! Other than that, that should be all. Oh one more thing.
MAJOR NOTICE; DO NOT BE LATE FOR PRACTICE, WHEN WE START AT 2PM MEANS WE ARE READY TO PLAY AT 2PM AND NOT COME STROLLING IN TAKING YOUR OWN SWEET TIME SETTING UP YOUR STUFF. BE DISCIPLINED ENOUGH TO GET THINGS DONE FAST AND SET UP FAST. DO NOT WAIT TO BE TOLD. DO.NOT.BE.LATE.FOR.PRACTICE. THIS IS SERIOUS. THINK ABOUT THIS, NO TIME MANAGEMENT, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK WE CAN EVEN PLAY TOGETHER?

Overview of our ensemble.
our initial roots.
From a humble beginning in 2006 with only 20 members, the Guitar Ensemble has grown both in character and strength. This year we managed to recruit a total of 26 secondary 1 members, making a total of 46 members in the ensemble. As a relatively new CCA, the ensemble too experienced its fair share of teething problems especially in the initial stages. However, with the support, commitment and dedication shown by its pioneer members, the ensemble managed to overcome these challenges.
We took part in SYF 2007, 2009 and was awarded Bronze and Silver respectively. The students practiced very hard to ensure a great performance for the competition. Practices were intensified to 3 times a week in preparation for this major project. The members have shown resilience in improving their guitar playing skills, and was rewarded in this event.
The ensemble is currently under the guidance and instruction of Mr Alvyn Eng.
Current Batch of Guitarists, '10.
